Quality Street have announced they're making changes to two of the most popular flavours in the tin ahead of Christmas.

I know, I know, Christmas is over two months away and it should be illegal for anything holiday-related to happen before 1 December, but we figured we'd give you advance warning on this important topic.

Nestle have said that two of the more popular offerings in Quality Street will be changing for a limited time, though don't fret if we're about to list your favourites as they've promised not to mess with the taste.

If you love the taste of the Orange Crunch and The Purple One, then you'd better know that they're changing shape for a bit and they'll now look like the Caramel Swirl.

It's the one with the flat, cylindrical bottom and a rounded top safely ensconced in golden wrappings, and if memory serves, they're quite popular.

Orange Crunch is losing the traditional octagonal shape.

At least in my home, they're often not the ones left sitting in the purple tin for weeks on end next to all the toffee ones nobody wants, whereas the hierarchy of Quality Street may be different in your abode.

You'll know the Orange Crunch by its octagonal shape, while the immensely popular Purple One is more of an oval and as their names suggest, their wrappings are orange and purple respectively.

Not every tin of Quality Street will have these two flavours with a changed shape as the Purple One will only feature in it's own 'The Purple One' bag, while Orange Crunch will be available in the regular tins.

So if you buy enough tins, you'll get some in the old shapes people love.

Quality Street's senior brand manager Jemma Handley explained the decision to give a new shape a go.

She said: "We are trialling a different shape for two of our sweets this Christmas season.

"We know how iconic Quality Street sweets are and we have made sure that it is the same great-tasting Purple One and Orange Crunch that people know and love inside their iconic coloured wrappers."

The Purple One, often regarded as the nation's favourite Quality Street, is changing shape as well.

This Christmas tins of Quality Street will also be welcoming back an old favourite in the form of the Coffee Creme, though only for tins sold in certain John Lewis and Waitrose stores, so if coffee flavoured fondant in dark chocolate sounds like your jam, then you'd better find one of those.

And on the subject of John Lewis, the Quality Street pick 'n mix will also be returning there yet again this Christmas to certain stores, so you can ditch all the flavours you don't like and tuck into just your favourites.

Or you could get a tin of the good stuff for someone else, since it is Christmas.
