Adrenaline junkies take note - the opening date for the UK's tallest and fastest rollercoaster has just been revealed.

Previously, Blackpool's Big One was the tallest rollercoaster in the UK, towering over Blackpool Pleasure Beach at 213 feet (65m) tall.

But it's about to be dethroned.

You can check out the new tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the UK in the clip below:

Yep, Thorpe Park in Surrey will be the home of new record-breaking rollercoaster Hyperia, and the theme park exclusively revealed the attraction's opening date to LADbible.

The rollercoaster track is an impressive 995.4m long, maxes out at speeds over 80mph and reaches a height of 236 feet (71m) at its peak, setting a new precedent among theme park rides in the country.

Neil Poulter, Divisional Director at Thorpe Park, revealed: "Hyperia has been years in the making and we know our fans and followers from all over the world have been waiting with baited breath for us to announce the opening date!

The rollercoaster will be open to the public on 24 May.

"We’re delighted to now be able to reveal that guests will be able to enjoy the UK’s tallest, fastest and most weightless rollercoaster from 24 May 2024 which also happens to mark Thorpe Park’s 45th birthday!

"What better way to mark our milestone birthday than by unveiling our most epic and record-breaking ride to date! We can’t wait to celebrate our most thrilling season here at Thorpe Park with as many guests as possible."

That's not all though, as Thorpe Park have also unveiled a brand new, limited edition ticket, called the 'Golden Ticket'.

For a price of £49, it entitles guests to two day visits to Thorpe Park, one for dates up to 23 May 2024, prior to the opening of Hyperia, and one for dates from 24 May 2024 to 30 September 2024, which is after its opening.

It's very big.

The ticket offers a great opportunity for theme park fans and a good value for money, as a single day pass costs £29 when pre-booked online.

Holders of the coveted Golden Ticket also will benefit from visiting during the Easter holidays, and during the theme park's exciting Mardi Gras event.

2024 will also bring more additions to Thorpe Park, such as new land Big Easy Boulevard, which is one for the entire family.

If you're looking for a staycation, Thorpe Shark Cabins are also an option, located onsite, plus you'd be minutes away from your favourite rides, ensuring you're one of the first of the day, skipping the long lines.

Thorpe Park will be open from 24 March.
