Those addicted to vaping in the UK are likely to have lighter wallets starting from next month as the price of vapes is expected to rise starting from then.
That's because from 1 October the government is introducing Vaping Products Duty and the Vaping Duty Stamps Scheme, which means new duties on vaping liquids whether or not they contain nicotine.
Since it's more tax to pay as part of the supply chain it's likely the costs will be passed on to you, the customer, and it'll be vapers who foot the bill.
The incoming duty is going to be £2.20 per 10ml on vaping products, and since a lot of vapes contain 2ml of liquid that's going to be an extra cost of 44p that might get pushed onto the huffing and puffing public.

All the vaping products sold in the UK will have to have a duty stamp on them, and there's a six-month transition period so from 1 April next year everything is going to have to come with this.

The government have said they're 'committed to reducing the affordability and appeal of vaping products' while still wanting to make it a more appealing option than cigarette smoking to encourage people to quit that habit.
Tobacco duties are also going up, so smoking will be getting more expensive as well.
It's really no surprise that the government has a problem with the health hazards of vaping, and they plan to conduct a 10 year study on 100,000 young people to get a clearer picture of what these things are actually doing to people.
Vaping is on the rise among younger generations, including among those who've never even smoked in the first place, while researchers have been working to understand the full impact of what it does to the lungs.
Typically they're considered a safer alternative to cigarettes, but more research is outlining the health hazards that vaping itself poses.

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) examined a wide range of data from over 14,000 published articles, 325 full-text studies, and 81 studies across eight health and social domains and linked vaping to a number of health concerns.
Young people who vaped were more likely to be wheezing, coughing, bronchitis symptoms, and suffer from asthma exacerbations than if they didn't huff away on one.
The addictive nature of nicotine which is in many vape liquids is well documented, as is the impact it has on health by increasing a person's blood pressure.
So while vapes are bad for your health they're also going to increasingly be bad for your wallet.
