A woman has been arrested at Windsor Castle after reportedly running along the street topless shouting 'Save the planet'.

Photographs show several police officers apprehending the unnamed woman, who was wearing only a pair of shorts, a baseball cap and a pair of sunglasses.

She allegedly ran through the crowds gathered for Prince Philip's funeral, shouting 'Save the planet'.

According to The Sun, the incident occurred just after mourners finished their minute of silence, paying tribute to the late Duke of Edinburgh.

The outlet added that police were later seen retrieving the woman's clothes from nearby.

She had also reportedly jumped onto a statue of Queen Victoria before officers removed her from the scene on Castle Hill.

One bystander tweeted: "Odd. A topless woman just ran past Windsor Castle."

She was seen wrapped up in a blanket as police led her away.

A statement from Thames Valley Police, provided to LADbible, said: "At around 3.05pm Thames Valley Police made an arrest of a 55-year-old woman from West Sussex, on suspicion of using threatening/abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

"She is currently in police custody."

Prince Philip was laid to rest at St George's Chapel this afternoon, after passing away earlier this month at the age of 99.

After being placed in the Royal Vault beneath the chapel, his remains will remain in place, behind iron gates, until the Queen dies.

In normal circumstances, the funeral would have seen thousands flock to St George's Chapel, Windsor, to pay their respects.

However, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, the public have had to watch the ceremony from home - with the service restricted to just 30 people.

Alongside Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince Harry and Prince William, others in attendance included Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, his wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge, and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.

Prince Harry's wife Meghan Markle was not in attendance as she was told not to fly by her doctor due to the fact that she is heavily pregnant.

Footage of the Queen stood alone in the chapel as she said her goodbyes to her late husband struck a chord with the millions watching at home, with many calling the stark image 'heartbreaking'.

Sharing a photo from the service, one user said: "Whilst stood alone, the Queen stands with the highest amount of dignity. She really does embody so much even at times of utter heartbreak, an inspiration for us all."

Echoing these sentiments, another wrote: "Heartbreaking to see the queen alone."

A third person added: "Seeing the Queen sat alone is a deeply upsetting sight - my heart goes out to her, but also to the many thousands of families who've also had to grieve lost loved ones during the pandemic I wouldn't wish that experience on anybody."
