Usually when you check into an Airbnb, the only thing you need to worry about are the cleaning fees even though you have to do most of it yourself.
However, one family were rightfully concerned when they checked into to their holiday home only to discover pictures of themselves on the wall, as if it were the start of some sort of horror film.
Sisters Aubrey and Libby Birrell had been staying at an Airbnb rental in San Diego in California when they noticed something very peculiar, as they quickly realised that they featured alongside some other members of their family in one of the home's pieces of artwork.
While you might be wondering if it was a very strange tribute to the guests who had decided to stay there, it seems as if the sisters have now solved the mystery, as it was one of life's very strange coincidences.

Aubrey told the New York Post: “The moment we saw it, we made everyone come up and look, and they were all in awe. I started FaceTiming my friends because they all know my family. They were in shock, too. It was crazy.”
In her TikTok which unsurprisingly went viral, Aubrey added: “We’re looking at this picture, and my dad is like, ‘This looks like me'."

“I’m like, ‘Dad, what?’ … No, this is my dad. That’s my sister, Libby, from 10 years ago, and that’s Brady, my brother, 10 years ago
“We have those swimsuits,” Libby adds in the video. “We are literally in this picture.”
After contacting the Airbnb, the sisters finally found their solution, and fortunately it meant that they were able to sleep soundly at night without worrying about a potential stalker.
The property host quickly explained that the home’s decorator is actually San Diego photographer who takes aerial beach photos and turns them into artwork for vacation rentals, and it just so happened that the family had been on that particular beach at the exact time he'd taken a photo. What a small world.

“A lot of people were telling us we should leave, that it was like the start of a horror movie,” Aubrey Birrell recalled.
However, the frightening find turned into a funny experience for the family once the situation had been explained, and they even wanted to get a print from the photographer to recall the moment and the memories from a decade before.
They said: “A lot of people also shared similar experiences, like seeing themselves in a picture frame at a store or spotting themselves on a pamphlet in another state. It was kind of cool to hear those stories.”
Aubrey concluded: “I feel all right with it. I was telling [our host] that if we could get a print from the photographer, that would be so cool, just so we could always remember it. I think it’s fun,” Aubrey Birrell said.
“And if anyone else who stays at that [rental home] sees the video, they can go look for the picture.”
