Family horrified after making discovery on painting in AirBnB
A family was left stunned after spotting an unnerving discovery at their Airbnb.
Sisters Aubrey and Libby Birrell had been staying at an Airbnb rental in San Diego in California when they noticed something very strange.
When someone buys a property for an AirBnb rental, usually they would decide that the decor in the flat or house would be fairly neutral, that is unless the strange or weird decor is the main feature of the place.
Mostly though, it will be very generic images, photos, or decorations as you're going to have a lot of people passing through the place, so something unusual might not be the best choice.

In this case, Aubrey and Libby arrived at their rental, and sure enough it was decorated with a large fairly neutral photo of people enjoying themselves on the beach.
Fair enough, you might think, if someone's at an Airbnb they want to be thinking about holidays so the beach seems a good option.
Except when they looked closer, Aubrey and Libby noticed that there was something odd about the photo.
You may have wondered at some point where those kind of stock images come from, and to their shock Aubrey and Libby realised that some people in the photo looked strangely familiar.
A video the pair posted on TikTok captioned 'we can’t make this up….. this is the craziest thing' saw the pair sharing the strange encounter.
It turned out that the family themselves were in the picture on the wall.
That's because the stock image had been taken while they were on holiday 10 years earlier.
Aubrey pointed out the various members of the family, saying 'that's my dad', and pointing out their brother and one of them as well.
They revealed that they never learned how the strange coincidental picture had ended up there, though one explanation is that they were simply in a stock photo taken in public without realising.
"We are on our AirBnB wall!" they said, gobsmacked.
People took to the comments on social media to share their thoughts on the strange coincidence, with one writing: "also what are the odds of you looking that closely at the picture?"
Another replied: "I’ve always wondered how many pictures I’m in that I’ve never seen and don’t know about."
Others shared their own strange encounters with stock images.
"I went to the store to buy a frame for my brother and his new wife as a gift," one person wrote. "While I was waiting at the register to pay for it, I glanced at the picture that came with the frame.
"To my shock, the model in the picture was actually my brother‘s ex-wife who was, in fact, a model. I quickly went back and found a different frame."
Another recalled: "This literally happened at our rented beach house TODAY. I had seen this tiktok days ago and something made me look at the giant canvas hanging in the primary bath.
"I immediately see my daughter and her HS friend group in the pic….one of whom is with us on this trip! We live 2 hours away and have been coming to this beach for decades. CRAZY."
