Police have issued an update as a Gossip Girl actor has reportedly been 'found safe' after mysteriously vanishing for two weeks.

Chanel Maya Banks’ family were growing increasingly worried as they accused her husband of not cooperating in the search.

Authorities told ABC News yesterday (13 November) that the 36-year-old had been found safe in Texas. It is said she was unharmed and there is no foul play suspected in her disappearance.

With much speculation, the circumstances of Banks’ disappearance are not currently clear.

The actor is known for playing Sawyer Bennett in the third series of Gossip Girl as well as appearing in other TV shows like Blue Bloods and Twelve.

Before police claim she was found, her cousin, Danielle-Tori Singh, said the family became concerned when they hadn’t heard from her for several days.

“She doesn't go more than 48 hours without speaking to me or her mom,” she explained. “That girl is more like a big sister to me."

Welfare checks were conducted at Banks’ home on 7 and 8 November and didn’t locate her with her family later entering the apartment she had been living in with her husband of one year.

They say they found all of her belongings except for her laptop and phone. Her cousin also added that the actor’s dog was still there despite her ‘not going anywhere without’ it.

A now deleted GoFundMe page was launched by Singh as the family intended to ‘hire a private investigator'.

They had slammed Banks’ husband for allegedly not helping as they claimed he was not ‘willing to help LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department)’.

“He's not willing to help me or her mom find her,” Singh added. “He is removing flyers off of posts and cars."

Yesterday, messages were reportedly posted to a social media account under Banks’ name yesterday with the headline: “I am not missing.”

Among other claims about her family in the messages, she apparently said she willingly left to 'escape my cage'.

After saying she had been found in Texas, the actor's family was shown body camera footage of the encounter. However, Singh claimed the woman was not Banks, adding that the person in the footage did not look like her cousin did the last time she was seen in a FaceTime call.

LADbible has contacted the LAPD for comment.
