Donald Trump is going to have to take it as well as he gives it after a political rival hit back at him with a comment about Jeffrey Epstein.
The US president has openly mocked Democratic Senator Adam Schiff about his appearance in the past. Schiff, who regularly criticises the 79-year-old's policies, was the subject of a scathing rant at the National Republican Congressional Committee dinner in April.
“Adam Schifty Schiff. Can you believe this guy?” Trump told dinner attendees (via The Mirror). “He’s got the smallest neck I’ve ever seen. And the biggest head. We call him watermelon head.
“How can that big fat face stand on a neck that looked like this finger? How we can allow people like that to run in office is a shame.”

Trump went on to use his index finger as a gesture to question how Schiff’s ‘big fat face’ could sit on such a slender neck.
“It’s a mystery, no one can understand,” he added.
Earlier this week (4 September), the president shared an edited clip of Schiff speaking on NBC's Meet the Press.
In the video, Schiff claimed that 'anyone who stands up to the president, anyone who criticises the president' has the 'full force of the federal government brought down on them'.

Trump's version, however, elongates Schiff's neck in a giraffe-like fashion. There was no caption to the video, but there was certainly a response.
Schiff responded to the video by saying: "Even from up here, I can still see you hiding the Epstein Files, Donald."
The allegation of Trump refusing to release all of the files related to the convicted sex offender continues to be thrown at him. However, the House of Representatives Oversight Committee recently released over 33,000 pages from the Epstein files on Tuesday (2 September), including flight logs, emails, and court findings, amongst other things.

As pressure mounted for the files to be released, Trump's previous association with him in the 90s to early 2000s remained a talking point.
He claimed that he fell out with Epstein prior to his first conviction in 2008, and to prove that he had nothing to do with him, the US Justice Department released transcripts of their recent interview with imprisoned former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell.
Maxwell was convicted in December 2021 of conspiring with Epstein to recruit, groom, and sexually abuse underage girls, including transporting minors for illegal sex acts.
In June 2022 she received a 20-year federal prison sentence for her central role in the sex-trafficking ring.

“I actually never saw the President in any type of massage setting,” she said, according to the transcript.
“I never witnessed the President in any inappropriate setting in any way. The President was never inappropriate with anybody.
“In the times that I was with him, he was a gentleman in all respects.”
