Donald Trump has responded to an apparent assassination warning from an Iranian politician.
The 79-year-old was previously the target of an assassination attempt when a bullet narrowly missed his head at a rally in Pennsylvania on 13 July, 2024.
Just a year after surviving the assassination attempt, Trump has now received a warning from a former senior adviser to Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
As reported by Iran International, Mohammad-Javad Larijani said the US president could face a possible drone attack if he chooses hang around his Florida property in Mar-a-Lago.

"Trump has done something so that he can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago," he said.
"As he lies there with his stomach to the sun, a small drone might hit him in the navel. It’s very simple."

What has Trump said about the threat?
When Fox News asked Trump about the apparent threat, he didn't appear to take it too seriously.

Peter Doocy, the outlet's senior White House correspondent, asked the Republican leader when he last went sunbathing.
"It’s been a long time. I don’t know, maybe I was around seven or so. I’m not too big into it," he said with a smile.
"I guess it’s a threat. I’m sure it’s not a threat, actually, but perhaps it is."

A Secret Service official declined to comment on the specific threat, but told the Daily Mail that they would offer 'the highest levels of protection'.

"We operate in a heightened and very dynamic threat environment and the safety and security of the President and all of our protectees remains our highest priority," they said.
The threat comes just weeks after Trump celebrated America's ceasefire intervention in the 12-day war between Iran and Israel.
Iran say at least 627 of their people were killed during the attacks, whilst Israel say at least 28 people were killed by Iranian strikes on their country.
"CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn't, and never will!" he added.
