Trump’s ‘Doomsday plane’ that could mean you only have five minutes left to live takes unusual four-hour trip

The USA's infamous 'Doomsday plane' was seen taking an unusual trip on Tuesday (17 June) evening, sparking rumours.

In case you've somehow not seen, tensions between the Middle East and Israel (and so, by proxy, the US) have risen ten-fold in the last few days, following an exchange of missiles between Iran and Israel.

Suggestions of World War III have resurfaced in 2025 yet again, as Donald Trump described the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as an 'easy target'.

Insisting that the USA were not looking to kill him, he added that they do not want to shoot missiles at civilians or American soldiers, but stated: "Our patience is wearing thin."

It has not officially been announced whether the US, or the UK for that matter, have joined the conflict between Iran and Israel, following threats from the former on the west.

Could a World War be in progress?

Following a series of retaliatory strikes from Iran on Israel after the latter targeted nuclear research facilities and military leaders with their missiles, President Trump suggested that Israel could launch more weapons until an agreement over nuclear development was struck.

As Iran called the missile strikes a 'declaration of war', millions around the world have been left worried, with these concerns compounded by the sighting of a particular plane.

Amidst the worldwide worry of being on the cusp of another major war, America's 'Doomsday plane' was seen in the skies on Tuesday evening.

What is the Doomsday plane?

Also known as the Boeing E-4 or National Airborne Operations Centre (NAOC), the aircraft has been specially designed in the event of a nuclear war or world-ending event.

Seeing it jet across the sky could mean that you have just minutes to live due to its purpose, so you can understand why people were concerned with its sighting this week.

The modified Boeing 747-200 is essentially a mobile war room for President Trump, as it can fly for around 12 hours and can be refuelled in midair.

Though the idea was first brought to reality in the 1970s, several models have been made and tested since then, ready to go following disaster.

What four-hour trip did it take?

Also known as the 'Nightwatch', the plane which is designed for use in times of crisis was said to have taken off from Bossier City, Louisiana, at 5:56pm ET before taking a trip along the coast.

It looped around the borders of Viriginia and North Carolina, landing at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, at 10:01pm.

The trip took four hours and five minutes, as it was noted that it used a never-seen-before callsign, ORDER01.

It usually has the callsign ORDER6, with observers on flight tracking sites wondering if it had any link to increasing presidential security following fears of nuclear escalation.

Users noticed that the plane took off from Window Rock in Arizona before landing at the Louisiana base on Tuesday.

In the past, the plane has been used as a safe haven for President George W Bush following the 9/11 attacks, as well as acting as a command post during Hurricane Opal in 1995.

The aircraft has also been used by the Secretary of Defence to hold press briefings, showing that it can act as a multi-purpose aircraft.
