Video of Donald Trump's past comments goes viral after Jimmy Kimmel pulled off air over Charlie Kirk comments

The President's comments from his inauguration seem ironic after recent events

A clip from Donald Trump's inauguration earlier this year is doing the rounds following his comments on Jimmy Kimmel being suspended from TV.

Judging on past comments, the President has never been a fan of the comedian, meaning that he was quick to share his glee when the long-time talk show host was taken off the air indefinitely.

Kimmel spoke about Trump's supporters in his monologue, as well as some of the President's policies themselves, while joking about conservative political activist's Charlie Kirk's assassination.

Kirk was fatally shot in the neck while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University on 10 September, passing away as a result.

The talk show host accused MAGA supporters of using the death to 'score political points', before showing a clip of Trump reacting to a question about the shooting by pointing out the ongoing construction for the new White House ballroom.

He quipped: "On a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this...

"Yes, he's at the fourth stage of grief: Construction. Demolition, construction...This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend.

"This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, okay?"

As a result, an ABC spokesperson stated that 'Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be preempted indefinitely', which may have been music to Trump's ears, but many have been quick to bring up an old speech from his own inauguration.

While Trump claimed that the show was cancelled due to a lack of quality and not due to the comments on Kirk, many big names believe that the suspension is a step away from the right to a freedom of speech.

So far Ben Stiller and fellow talk show host Jimmy Fallon have came to Kimmel's support.

Speaking after being voted in as the 47th President of the USA, Trump spoke of the 'illegal and unconsitutional federal efforts to limit free expression', vowing to sign an executive order to 'immediately stop all government censorship and bring back free speech to America'.

He added: "Never again will the immense power of the state be weaponised to perscute political opponents - something I know something about."

Funny how the tables turn and all that.

Following Kimmel's removal from ABC, Trump said on Truth Social: "Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done."

He claimed that Kimmel had worse ratings than talk show host Stephen Colbert, adding that Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers had to be next to go on 'Fake News NBC'.

Colbert also had his show cancelled following criticism of Trump's lawsuit against Paramount.

Trump also spoke about the limitations of the media on his state visit to the UK this week, worryingly suggesting: ""I have read some place that the networks were 97 percent against me, again, 97 percent negative, and yet I won, and easily [in last year's election]."

"They give me only bad publicity [and] press. I mean, they're getting a licence. I would think maybe their licence should be taken away."

So much for freedom of speech, eh?
