Donald Trump slammed for what he said at speech during Charlie Kirk's funeral

Donald Trump has faced a huge amount of backlash after his speech at Charlie Kirk's funeral in Arizona.

The President took to the stage at the State Farm Stadium as the final speaker at the event, which attracted thousands of mourners following the tragic death of the political activist earlier this month.

Trump was close with Kirk, with the 31-year-old proving vital in his return to the Oval Office, and he was the one to confirm his death after Kirk was shot at Utah Valley University on 10 September.

After anĀ emotional speech from Charlie's wife, Erika, Trump took to the stage to raucous applause, but it quickly turned to confusion as his words about Kirk promptly turned into some bizarreĀ healthĀ claims.

At the beginning of his speech, he said: "Less than two weeks ago, our country was robbed of one of the brightest flights of our times, a giant of his generation, and above all, a devoted husband, father, son, Christian and patriot, Charles James Kirk was heinously murdered by a radicalised, cold-blooded monster, for speaking the truth.

"That was in his heart he was violently killed because he spoke for freedom and justice for God, country for reason, and for common sense."

However, Trump then bafflingly started talking about autism, and how they 'had the answer to autism', and how they can help parents who have children with autism.

He said: "Tomorrow we are going to have the biggest medical announcement in the history of the country… I think we have an answer to autism.

"I’ve been bugging everybody over there. Get the answer to autism. How to help children, how to prevent it—biggest priority for families."

He'd also made a similar announcement at a dinner hosted by the American Cornerstone Institute, where he claimed: "We're going to have an announcement on autism on Monday. I think it's gonna be a very important announcement. I think it's gonna be one of the most important things that we will do."

It has been reported by The Washington Post that officials will attempt to link autism to pregnant women taking Tylenol, contrary to medical guidelines, which say it is safe for pregnant women to take the medicine, which is similar to paracetamol.

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr has previously made claims about a supposed 'autism epidemic' which he alleged is fuelled by 'environmental toxins'.

Despite the rampant conspiracy theories, multiple studies have shown no connection between autism, pharmaceuticals, and vaccines, according to CNN.

He quickly faced backlash online, with people taking to X to share their views on the President's strange announcement.

One user said: "Come on Donald Trump… this is the memorial service. Stay on the topic."

Another posted: "Donald Trump is using his Charlie Kirk tribute to talk about how he might have the answer to autism."

A third said: "Donald Trump has just said he’s gonna fix autism."
