Influencer killed by husband two weeks after accusing him of paedophilia on TikTok

An influencer named Sara Gilson was killed by her estranged husband Jeremiah Duffey two weeks after she made a TikTok video accusing him of being a paedophile.

Gilson, 43, had posted on TikTok a video with text saying 'preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile', and had the caption 'I wish I was joking'.

The video format has become a popular one online, featuring the same dramatic string instrument track and someone solemnly sitting in a chair as though they're about to tell all.

That video was posted on 12 July, and just under two weeks later on 23 July she was shot dead by Duffey in Owasso, Oklahoma, NBC reports.

They report that according to court documents on 9 June police were told by a girl and her parent that Duffey, a girl's basketball coach, inappropriately touched her during an elementary school event.

Another coach from the team saw what had happened and informed the girl's mother.

Police said: "Similar conduct by this coach towards this particular juvenile player was reported to have occurred over an extended period of time, in multiple law enforcement jurisdictions, across multiple states prior to this incident."

Duffey then fled, and the following day Gilson was granted an emergency protective order against him after police told her that he had been accused of molesting a minor.

Duffey was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Gilson and her home.

On Thursday officers responded to a domestic violence incident at 11:16pm local time after a call where a woman was heard screaming and dispatchers thought they heard a gunshot.

When dispatchers tried to call back they received no answer, and shortly afterwards a call from a neighbour's house to the police had a boy saying his stepfather had just shot his mum.

Officers arriving at the scene found both Gilson and Duffey dead from apparent gunshot wounds to the head, and while investigations are ongoing they said the deaths appeared to point towards a murder-suicide.

Gilson's son was taken into protective custody and has since been released to a parent, she was also mother to a daughter.

A GoFundMe for Gilson's children has been set up to help raise money to support them.

A friend of Gilson wrote: "Her sudden and heartbreaking loss has left an entire community grieving, but the greatest loss is felt by her two precious children, who must now face life without their loving mother.

"Sara was an incredible mom. Her children were the center of her world, and everything she did was for them. She loved them fiercely, worked hard to provide for them, and dreamed of giving them the best life possible."
