JD Vance's brutal attack on Trump sparks questions over whether he could be next president

‘A tsunami’, ‘this is because of the Glee reboot’, and ‘woke is back’, were just some of the viral reactions to the midterm results rolling out yesterday (4 November).

The Republicans suffered quite the defeat in the US as the Democrats flipped control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

And JD Vance had a brutal attack to put blame on Donald Trump’s war in Iran for the midterm wipeout.

The vice president is often eyes as the successor at the White House but this response to the results has sparked questions over just how likely this actually is. Vance shared a lengthy statement which included: “The reason we lost is the war.”

“The president himself said so last night,” the continued.

“If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay.”

For roughly two years now, Vance has been a clear frontrunner on prediction market sites to succeed Trump as president of the US.

On platform Kalshi, his odds dropped from 20 percent on Monday to 14 percent on Wednesday morning.

Plus, according to the prediction market platform, his odds of being named the GOP nominee fell down from 35 percent on Tuesday to 30 percent yesterday.

Markets swiftly changed to show Democrat and Georgia Senator, Jon Ossoff, as the favourite to win the White House in two years, overtaking Vance.

As trading unfolded yesterday, he was up five points to 18 percent on Wednesday -three ahead of the vice president.

Of course, neither of them is currently an official candidate and Ossoff has denied repeatedly that he wants to run for presidency.

A former Trump official reportedly told CNN’s White House Correspondent, Alayna Treene: “This is far worse than anyone would’ve expected. Breakup of the GOP as we currently know it. House gone till at least 2030, senate till 2032. JD Vance waving goodbye to 2028.”

In his long, long statement (about 600 words long), Vance says he’s still ‘hopeful’ about the country.

As he said to those annoyed who want to say ‘I told you so’: “You’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview.”

And he wants those annoyed at the results to: “take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.”

Vance also claimed that there is ‘going to be a lot of gaslighting’ over the next few months.

“Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty,” the vice president claimed.

“I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labour, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you."
