Podcast host apologises for ‘grossly inappropriate’ Lindsay Clancy betting ad after backlash
Podcast host Amanda Hirsch has issued an apology after receiving backlash for using the Lindsay Clancy trial in a betting advertisement.
The presenter of Not Skinny But Not Fat wrote in the caption to her since-deleted advert for Polymarket: “The judge declared a mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy trial. On Polymarket it was predicted the verdict would be Not Guilty. Are you surprised? #Polymarketpartner.”
Taking to Instagram on Sunday (6 September), the 37-year-old said: “Posting about the Lindsay Clancy trial in the same breath as a brand partnership was completely insensitive, wrong, and out of character for me — I should have known better, and I feel sick that I didn’t see that in the moment.
“I’ve been following it so closely, talking about it constantly, and feeling heartbroken over every part of it.

“I became so consumed by the trial that I completely lost perspective and didn’t stop to think about how grossly inappropriate it was to discuss something this tragic in that context.”
She added: “I made a terrible judgment call and I feel so ******* awful about that. I know deleting it doesn’t erase it.
“Believe me, I’m horrified by the choice I made, and please know this lapse in judgment does not represent who I am as a person. I am so deeply sorry.”
Hirsch has turned off all comments on the post.
On Friday, the judge declared a mistrial after jurors said they could not reach a unanimous verdict on whether Clancy was criminally responsible for killing her three young children.
The decision, made after seven days of deliberations, means prosecutors can retry Clancy.
Clancy, a former labour and delivery nurse, admitted killing five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan at their Massachusetts home in January 2023. Prosecutors argued she deliberately strangled the children with exercise bands after arranging for her husband to leave the house.
Her defence argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and therefore should not be held criminally responsible. Jurors heard extensive evidence about Clancy’s deteriorating mental health following Callan’s birth, including severe anxiety, insomnia and psychiatric treatment. She had admitted herself to a psychiatric hospital shortly before the killings.
The 12-person jury spent more than 38 hours deliberating, with the final split being 11 to one after a single juror refused to agree to a unanimous verdict.
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington fiercely blamed the single holdout juror for the deadlock.
