The 17-year-old who went missing for months is being returned to his family after being spotted on a live stream.

Troy Coleman’s family have been searching for the lad since he was last seen on 21 May, with a lack of leads in the investigation leading to the sad belief that he was dead.

However, his relatives were taken aback this week when they thought they spotted him on Twitch star FaZe Lacy’s stream.

The teen from Mt. Morris Township in the US state of Michigan randomly appeared on the screen when he stopped to chat to the streamers, on a street in Miami.

Lacy didn’t think much of it when the shirtless lad in bright green shorts joked about with them before walking back up the road. But he soon received an email from someone claiming to be the boy’s brother.

He explained his name was Trent, and had been looking for his brother Troy for months.

"He was wearing green shorts and they were making fun of him, he is not on drugs he is schizophrenic and he is 17 years old. If someone can contact me about this I would be so thankful, he has been missing for three months and his case was put on homicide in Michigan,” his email read.

Lacy shared the story to X and updated followers last night (4 July) to say they’d responded to Trent and told him what hotel the lad had said he was staying at.

“He has been found and placed in a holding cell in Miami until he gets transferred back to Michigan with his family. The power of the internet is insane thank you guys,” the Twitch star wrote.

The Coleman family’s local police department also confirmed Troy had been found safe, sharing that it was planning his return home.

“The Flint Township Police Department would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everybody who shared the missing person information about Troy Coleman,” it wrote on Facebook.

“He has been found safe in Miami, Florida and we are working with local authorities to arrange his safe return to Michigan to be with his family.”

Troy’s father had previously issued a public appeal for help in finding the lad, who was last seen near the intersection of Pasadena Avenue and Lavelle Road in Mt. Morris Township, according to Townsquare.

It was thought he may have boarded a bus and left the area. He explained the teen was unarmed and doesn’t pose danger to the public but added that he suffers from mental health issues which require medication – that he reportedly didn’t have with him.

But now after almost 50 days, thanks to the power of the internet, the lad seems to have been found.
