Family outraged after neighbour destroys five-year-old boy’s snowman with shovel

The snowman was destroyed twice, and the second time was caught on camera

A dad is absolutely fuming at a 'miserable git' after a snowman he'd made for his five-year-old son was destroyed by a neighbour, and the whole thing was caught on camera.

There's been heavy snowfall in some parts of the UK this week as the winter weather has dipped temperatures below freezing, but the cold weather provided the perfect conditions for five-year-old Jacob Curtis to try building a snowman.

His dad Steve, 35, said his son had wanted to take advantage of the winter conditions and built a snowman on their doorstep, but when the family returned from a walk in town, they found the snowman had gone and the boy was devastated.

Deciding to remedy the situation, Steve then built a new snowman for his son which he called a 'snow child', and wanting to protect it from being knocked down again he made sure to film the location so he'd be able to see if anyone did anything to it.

Unfortunately, a couple of days ago (5 January) when he checked the footage, Steve could see the snowman had been destroyed and it looks like the culprit was a neighbour who sliced it into pieces with a snow shovel, while clearing the area around a car.

Have a look:

In the footage, the bloke with a snow shovel can be seen clearing the area behind a car before he appears to size up the 'snow child' and runs his tool through the frozen edifice's neck to decapitate it.

Several more thrusts of the snow shovel removed chunk after chunk of this thing Steve had built until it was completely gone, with one final jab breaking up the base of the snowman.

He then went back to clearing away snow, and Steve has branded the neighbour a 'miserable git' for destroying a snowman that wasn't even in his way.

Steve said: "When I finished work and came home I couldn’t believe it had happened again. What kind of miserable git deliberately destroys a little lad’s snowman?

"The snowman was nowhere near his car, it wasn’t doing any harm. It’s hard to know what he was thinking."

Having already endured the loss of his first snowman, Jacob is also upset that the snow child his dad made for him has also been destroyed and he's made a wooden cross to mark the spot where it once stood.

On the cross it says: "In memory of the snow child MURDERED BY NUMBER 22 with a shovel 05/01/26."

Now both the snowman and the snow child have been smashed into pieces, and they've accused their neighbour of taking down the second one (Steve Curtis / SWNS)

Plenty of folks on the internet have sided with Steve and Jacob, commiserating with the father and son on the loss of their beloved snowman.

They've said the person who hacked the snow child to pieces was a 'nasty man' and that it would be bad for his 'karmic energy'.

Others admired the look of the snowman and snow child and thought it a particular shame that such creations had been destroyed.
