A YouTuber has shared how taking Retatrutide for weight loss for 30 days affected his body.

Retatritude is an experimental drug being developed to assist with weight loss, and is currently not available for public use, and is only being distributed as part of the developer's clinical trials and through channel which are not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

YouTuber @coach_jay_yousef showcased how the medication impacted him over a 30 day course, including before and after pictures for this period, and even in such a short time the difference is clear.

"The progress has been really amazing, and all my food noise is completely gone," he said in a video shared to social media.

"I was telling my wife the other day, I have this compulsion to keep eating but I don't feel hungry so it would be really uncomfortable for me to keep eating," he said.

"But before I started this GLP I would have just kept eating because I can't stop myself, it's such a weird feeling, but that's just not been a problem for these last 30 days."

GLP-1 drugs work by affecting certain hormones in the body, and while it was initially licensed for the treatment of diabetes another effect was that it made someone feel fuller from less food.

That meant that combined with diet and exercise GLP-1 drugs can greatly assist with weight loss, and their popularity has since exploded.

Retatrutide however takes a more broad approach, affecting not just one hormone receptor in the body, but three different ones at the same time, hence it being called a 'triple-agonist'.

These are Glucagon-like peptide, which is the same hormone targeted by regular GLP-1 drugs, but also Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) which affects glucose levels, and Glucagon which works to break down fat into fatty acids.

The idea is that retatrutide will be stronger than GLP-1 medication, and may also result in less reduction in muscle mass.

However, it is still in clinical trials and the full effects that it has, including whether it will be approved, have not yet been confirmed, and it is not available in the UK.

Sharing how much weight he had lost, Jay said: "I've lost about 16 pounds, and I've maintained most of my muscle mass."

He claimed that he had experienced a 'few side effects' such as 'constipation' and 'nausea' when he 'increased my dose slightly' but said that when he brought it down.

"I'm still working out but my energy level through the day is so much more sustained," he added.

Retatrutide is not currently available in a format that is FDA approved, and its developers Eli Lilly have previously said that the only official way to get it is as part of a clinical trial, where proper safety controls and monitoring are in place.

A doctor in Australia has previously warned people against purchasing products bearing the name 'retatrutide' as these are not officially sanctioned and can come with safety risks.

Chief Health Officer in Victoria, Australia Dr Caroline McElnay said: “Unapproved peptide products, particularly those that are injected, carry significant safety risks, including contamination, infection or local tissue damage.”
