A passenger on board a Royal Caribbean cruise reportedly 'sliced open' his leg on a waterslide.

The individual was travelling on the 5,610-passenger Icon of the Seas, which departed from Miami on 2 August and is scheduled to return to the city tomorrow (9 August).

On Thursday (7 August), however, a guest suffered an injury while riding on the 46ft tall 'Frightening Bolt Waterslide', located in the Category 6 Waterpark.

The person cut themselves on a broken panel, as passengers told Cruise Hive that the male rider suffered 'skin laceration injuries from his legs to his hands.'

A spokesperson for Royal Caribbean said in a statement that their medical team attended to the scene.

"Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off a water slide as the guest passed through the slide," they said.

"The guest is being treated for his injuries.

"The waterslide is closed for the remainder of the sailing pending an investigation."

This comes after two recent incidents on the world's largest cruise ship.

Just a couple weeks ago, a crew member stabbed a female colleague before jumping overboard to his death.

The 35-year-old South African's body was pulled from the water just minutes after he allegedly attacked the woman, 28, over a 'personal dispute'.

“Our onboard security team responded to an incident involving two crew members in a personal dispute," a statement from Royal Caribbean read at the time.

"One of the crew members was injured, was attended to by the onboard medical team, and she is now in stable condition.

"Unfortunately, the other crew member is deceased after he went overboard and was recovered in a search and rescue operation."

They added: "We extend our condolences to the crew member’s family and loved ones. To respect their privacy, we have no additional details to share."

Police said that an 'autopsy is scheduled to assist in determining the exact cause of death as the investigation continues into this matter.'

Then just days later, a passenger reaching for his sunglasses lost his balance and tumbled over the edge of the ship's infinity pool.

Footage from an Instagram account @onlyinfloridaa showed the moment he leaned against the barrier, slipped, and plunged onto the lower deck. He escaped the fall without injury.

"A guest accidentally fell onto the pool gutter after reaching over to retrieve their sunglasses," the cruise liner explained.

"Our crew immediately attended to the guest, and fortunately, the guest did not experience any injuries."
