Alarming footage shows the moment a passenger on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship fell over the edge of an infinity pool.

The passenger, who was onboard the Icon of the Seas cruise ship at the time of the incident, is said to have been reaching for a lost pair of sunglasses when he lost his balance.

Fortunately, the guest wasn't injured during the fall.

It's unclear what day the incident occurred of where the cruise was heading to at the time.

The clip was shared to an Instagram account called @onlyinfloridaa, with the caption claiming the passenger had fallen from the pool on Deck 15 and landed onto the deck below, however these claims have been refuted by the cruise liner and other guests who witnessed the incident.

"A passenger fell over the edge of the infinity pool located on Deck 15 onto the deck below. No other injuries were reported," they wrote.

"The ‘Icon of the Seas’ returned back to its home port in Miami, Florida."

One person commented: "I was on this cruise. He fell into a space not open to the public.

"If he would have fallen over the railing he would have fallen to deck 5 in the kids splash area. That's 10 decks below!"

In the comments, many called out the unnamed guest, with one writing: "Play stupid games..."

Another said: "Someone has to ruin it for everyone."

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Royal Caribbean said in a statement: "A guest accidentally fell onto the pool gutter after reaching over to retrieve their sunglasses.

"Our crew immediately attended to the guest, and fortunately, the guest did not experience any injuries."

The incident comes after the news a crew member had died after going overboard the Icon of the Seas earlier this month.

Further reports claimed the 35-year-old man from South Africa had jumped after stabbing a 28-year-old woman, also from South Africa, multiple times.

Royal Bahamas Police Force confirmed the woman is in a stable condition following the attack, which stemmed from a 'personal dispute'.

"One of the crew members was injured, was attended to by the onboard medical team, and she is now in stable condition," a Royal Caribbean spokesperson said.

"Unfortunately, the other crew member is deceased after he went overboard and was recovered in a search and rescue operation."

The cruise liner has not revealed the identities of the deceased or the stabbing victim.
