Tech boss sparks major debate over list of dating ‘non-negotiables’

A woman caused a debate on social media after sharing a list of 'non negotiable' traits that she wants in her future partner.

Brooke LeBlanc is an executive at the technology firm Corgi, and shared what she wants in a parter, leading to quite the reaction on social media.

Everyone has their own like and dislikes when it comes to a potential partner, smart, funny, attractive, kind, whatever it might be, but LeBlanc had a very specific set of criteria that she wanted a potential partner to meet.

LeBlanc said that she decided to make the list after 'years of dating experience', and the list would help her to be upfront about what she wants and to meet the right person.

She first shared a post which said: “Who wants to cofound the rest of my life with me?”

This was then followed up with a list of qualities that she would want her partner to have, including 'strongly preferred' and 'non negotiable'.

For 'strongly preferred' this included someone having 'no prev marriages or engagements', and 'works in tech (comfortable with risk and career is blended into personal life)'.

But it was the list of 'non negotiable' qualities which seems to have got people talking online.

These included an age of between 32 and 42, living in the same city, doesn't have children but wants them, is 'fit and sober because you care about your health', and is 'kind, generous, thoughtful', and 'smart, funny, lighthearted'.

Other traits seemed to be a bit different, including 'healthy masculine' and having a 'provider/protector mentality', as well as being 'on the healing path (history of serious commitment ex therapists, books, retreats)'.

LeBlanc also listed one slightly more cryptic quality as 'post economic (still hardworking)'.

For those not in the know, another person took to social media with a post which explained the term, writing: "It refers to a person who’s moved beyond the need to prioritize financial concerns in their decision making or lifestyle.

"Economic considerations are no longer a constraint."

All of this sounds like a long-winded way of saying 'rich', or at least 'financially secure'.

For her part, LeBlanc replied to a question about the term, explaining that it means '(Some) time freedom', and 'ability to care for family members without financial constraint (aging parents/young kids/spouse)'.

The post drew a big response on social media, with people having a lot of questions about the list.

“Good luck. Leave your checklist at home and just fall in love with someone," wrote one. "You’re scoring them before you know them. No one wins with this approach."

Another lamented how difficult it is to date in San Fransisco, writing: “I can’t imagine anything worse than being single and dating in SF."

But LeBlanc wasn't having any of it, responding to the backlash by writing: “God forbid a woman asks for what she wants. Sorry, I don’t want to date a loser!”

She added: “Getting bullied on the Internet today, so I can be a financially free hot mom in the future."
