Further details of the 52-year-old singer's arrest have since been released, with details of the out-of-state warrant now made clear.
Details from the warrant, issued in Roswell, New Mexico, have revealed that Akon was wanted over charges of driving with a suspended licence and an alleged missed court date (via The Independent).

The incident occurred after security cameras alerted authorities in DeKalb County that a man with an outstanding warrant had been located at Tint World, a company which provides tints car windows. The warrant was understood to be in relation to an incident which had occurred two months earlier.
Legal documents state that a warrant was issued for Akon - real name Aliaune Thiam - back in January 2023 when he allegedly missed a court date. This warrant was later discovered in September after officers scanned the number plate of his car after it broke down in the road.
Officers towed the singer's car - a Tesla Cybertruck - after discovering his licence was suspended as well as confiscating an illegal vape.
A representative for the singer has since said the arrest was the result of a 'clerical issue' which would soon be rectified.
"Due to a clerical issue the suspended license should have never been escalated, it was paid but not properly entered into the system. This will be soon rectified in the courts in early December," Akon's representative told The Independent.
LADbible Group previously contacted Akon's reps, DeKalb County Sheriff's Office and Chamblee Police Department for comment.

The arrest isn't Akon's first run in with the law, as the 'Smack That' singer has previously been arrested six times. However he has only ever been convicted once, over felony gun possession in New Jersey back in 1998.
He received three years of probation after pleading guilty.
The 1998 charge remains the singer's only conviction, with the 52-year-old previously being exposed for largely fabricating a criminal career back in 2008.
