Men Are Sharing Their Lockdown 'Glow Downs' On TikTok

The latest TikTok trend

While some of us have spent lockdown working out at the crack of dawn and improving ourselves - the rest of us have been taking part in a spectacular 'glow down'.

The opposite of a glow up, which involves usually getting ripped or learning a new language, a glow down is a perfectly normal result of months of sitting at home doing very little and comfort eating.

The 'glow down' challenge involves people completely owning the impact lockdown has had on their appearance.

The results are reassuring to say the least.

It involves posting a photo of what they looked like a year ago, before an image of what they look like now pops up.

It was started by TikTok user @rickykv, who started the tongue-in-cheek trend, where he shared his transformation. He wrote: "Let's make this a trend and normalize that quarantine ≠ glow up."

Others soon followed and a trend it was.

One TikTok user went from this...

In the audio, he said: "OK, so everybody on TikTok loves to talk about 'glow ups'.

"Let's talk about my glow-down. So, this was a year ago, looking f***ing delicious, looking like a little snack, and this is what I look like now."

After posting his video, 20-year-old Ricky had more than 700,000 views, with thousands of comments of support.

One said: "I've just continuously glowed down every year since birth, don't worry."

Another wrote: "It's OK man. We all had too many quarantine snacks. Once this pandemic passes we'll all be alright."

Someone else said: "Bro, I'm telling you, once you hit the gym, that version of you will come back. Your choice of course, and not hating on you!"

While this guy, like most of us, could simply relate, saying: "Food happened - I can say the same for me."

Loads of other people using his sound on their own videos.

Some of them don't show too much of a difference, others had the classic lockdown facial hair, with some even saying they'd put on a bit of weight - the quarantine 15 (lbs) as it's been coined.

Mainly though, the constant worries of a global pandemic has just made everyone look a bit more tired.

One viewer commented: "I was a stud too then I gained like 30lbs since March. It's been rough. STILL GOT THE FACE DOE."

Another who had posted his own video wrote: "60lbs of quarantine later."

The most relatable TikTok trend of the year IMO.
