A man forked out a whopping $17,500 (£12,000) to propose to his girlfriend with a message in the sky - and then also bizarrely included a message about Joe Rogan's height. Who says romance is dead, eh?

The bloke's identity hasn't been revealed but residents in Los Angeles shared snaps of the sky writing on social media, with one message reading: "Will you marry me Mollie Pratt?"

The next message then confirmed that 'she said yes', while others read: "I love you more than anything", "Excited to spend my life with you" and "Until death do us part".

So far all your usual marriage proposal kind of thing right?

But then another message read simply: "One more thing... Joe Rogan is literally 5 foot 3."

The man ended his stream of messages with: "OK see ya Los Angeles."

As yet, the mysterious message-writer hasn't been unmasked, but Sky Typers told The Wrap he paid $17,500 for a total of 10 messages.

Social media were left amused and confused by the whole thing, with one person posting on Twitter: "Someone just spent thousands of dollars to write 'Joe Rogan is literally 5 foot 3' in the skies of Los Angeles and honestly money well spent."

Another person wrote: "Someone literally paid to have their wedding vows written in the sky here in LA and ended it with 'Joe Rogan is literally 5 foot 3'. Incredible."

A third added: "I mean, I hate that someone has that kind of disposable income but on the other hand I respect it."

Rogan has previously said he is 5'8'', after pranksters changed his Wikipedia page to say he was just 5ft.

He recently came in for some flak after saying he didn't think young people needed to get the coronavirus vaccine.

On an April episode of his The Joe Rogan Podcast, the MMA commentator told his millions of followers that he didn't think it was necessary.

Joe Rogan confirmed he's actually 5'8''.

"If you're like 21 years old, and you say to me, 'Should I get vaccinated?' I'll go, 'No,'" Rogan said.

"If you're a healthy person, and you're exercising all the time, and you're young, and you're eating well, like, I don't think you need to worry about this."

Anthony Fauci, the US' leading infectious diseases expert, told NBC that the podcaster isn't putting up all the facts.

He spoke about Rogan, saying: "You're talking about yourself in a vacuum. You're worried about yourself getting infected and the likelihood that you're not going to get any symptoms. But you can get infected, and will get infected, if you put yourself at risk."
