How did we never know about this?

With the weather taking a bitterly cold turn in the UK this week, many of us are de-icing our cars for the first time all year.

But even once the de-icer has been sprayed, drivers can spend ages waiting for their screens to clear.

Now, people on TikTok are discussing a simple trick to clearing your windscreen quickly - and we can't believe we hadn't thought of it earlier. You can watch the trick below:

TikToker @saraedeutsch shared the trick on her TikTok page, and people were pretty blown away.

It's so simple to do and doesn't require any extra effort - or even leaving your vehicle.

She explained: "I do this video every year, when you have a windshield that is frosted over make sure you put your visors down so that it stops the air flow and creates a faster defrost on your windshield.

"If you ever have a sheet of ice or when it's frosted, put this down and it creates a block so that it actually defrosts faster."

Sara captioned the video: "Teen drivers need to know this! Frozen windshield are about to be a thing with all the cold and snow."

And in a separate video, another TikToker explained: "Top tip to defrost windscreen move the sun visor down to circulate the air."

Other TikTokers were pretty blown away, with many admitting they had no idea about the simple tip.

One person commented: "I'm sorry a teen driver… i just learnt this at 32 lol."

While another said: "I’m 48 and I never knew this."

And a third added: "Me, an adult who lives in Canada, learning this for the first time."

Meanwhile a fourth commented: "I'm gonna be trying this tomorrow morning."

And a fifth said: "Just learned this at the age of 40... and ive only very important to know for all the the drivers who has to drive through the rush hour."

People were impressed with the trick.

Earlier this year, we told you about another easy way to de-ice your car during the cold winter months.

Driving Test Success - the UK's leading Theory Test revision company - shared a post on its TikTok page, explaining: “HOW TO: Defrost your windscreen.”

The video demonstrates the hack, which starts by putting the car’s temperature up high.

Next up, they explain, “Put the windscreen fan on max,” adding: “The ice will start to melt from the heat.”

All you have to do after that is wipe away any excess water and return the fan to its normal setting and hey presto - your windscreen is clear.

Plus you’re heating your car up in the process. You can read more here.
