Woman who has been dating boyfriend for six years has just discovered he’s her biological brother

The pair bonded over both being adopted, however nothing could have prepared them for when they took an ancestry test for fun.

You might want to sit down for this one because it's about to get very awkward.

A woman has revealed that she found out her boyfriend of six years was actually her biological brother.

She posted her story to Reddit and the world hasn't been the same since.

The anonymous user wrote: “I just found out that I've been dating my biological brother for six years.

“I am 30 and my brother is 32. I'm just going to call him my boyfriend for the majority of the time while I type this.

“I feel weird about this. I was adopted as a baby but I didn't know that I was adopted until I was in high school.”

The Reddit user disclosed how her ‘boyfriend’ was also adopted, and this is one of the things that initially brought them together.

She continued: “We both didn't learn we were adopted until high school and we both were lucky and had good families. We weren't passed around from foster home to foster home.”

“Our relationship was and still is great. We understood each other very fast. We were attracted to each other quickly. I've never met someone and felt immediate attraction and familiarity.

“Now I know that the comfort and familiarity is because he's my brother. Not my half brother.”

The Reddit post explained that the two siblings had done everything a long-term couple has done: had sex, celebrated anniversaries, said ‘I love you’, met each other’s families and confirmed that they didn’t want to have kids together.

Yes, we imagine the conversation that 'your father is also your uncle' would be hard to have.

The user revealed that she discovered the horrific truth after partaking in a DNA test to find out their ancestry.

“I was excited to see what we were but before I could even get to that," she wrote. "I saw that we were siblings. I was SHOCKED to say the least. I only just found out this information and I haven't told my boyfriend.”

The user shared that while she was taken aback by the results, it made sense as many have told them that they 'look alike'.

But despite all of this, the woman maintained that she still ‘loves him’.

She said: “We have a house together and a whole comfortable life. I'm hoping that this test is wrong and will do a real test soon but I'm panicking. I still see him as the love of my life.”

People were shocked by the post.

Many commented underneath it saying they were even surprised someone would admit to this.

One user wrote: “You couldn't waterboard this information out of me.”

Another commented: “Seven billion people in the world what are the odds.”

While another said: “This is not their fault, but they can't stay together.”
