Quentin Griffiths' ex-wife has spoken out after the ASOS co-founder fell to his death from a 17th floor balcony in Thailand.

The 58-year-old, who co-founded the fashion company in 2000, remained a significant shareholder after exiting in 2005.

He was found dead on the ground in Pattaya on 9 February.

A police officer told the BBC that the British passport holder and long-term resident was on his own in the room, with no trace of a break-in because the suite was locked from the inside at the time of the death.

There has also been no evidence of foul play, according to an autopsy.

As reported by The Sun, the Londoner and his second ex-wife Ploy Kringsinthanakun were in the middle of a legal battle after she accused him of stealing £500,000 worth of shares and land from her company.

“I had absolutely nothing to do with his death. How could I kill him?” she told the outlet.

“How would I know anything about it? I live in Bangkok — I wasn’t in Pattaya.”

After divorcing his first wife, he married Kringsinthanakun and had a son and a daughter with her.

The couple separated several years ago, as Griffiths moved to Thailand in 2007 after co-founding ASOS with Nick Robertson, Andrew Regan and Deborah Thorpe.

The businesswoman, who wants to have more access to her children after Griffiths won custody in the divorce, said she was 'shocked' by the news.

“I only learned about his death when his lawyer called both me and my lawyer to arrange a negotiation regarding the case,” she said.

“Of course I am sad about his death, he is the father of my children, so I am worried about them and what they are going through.

“I fought with him so much in the past, but I moved on and just wanted to be treated fairly.”

Kringsinthanakun said she only 'knew about his death from his lawyer' who she thought 'was joking about Quentin being dead'.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British national who has died in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities.”

A spokesperson for ASOS said: “We’re saddened to hear about the passing of Quentin, one of our original co-founders.

“He played an important role in Asos’s earliest days and we’re forever grateful for his contribution.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
