
President Donald Trump has spoken out about the tragic Air India accident that took place in Ahmedabad, western India, on Thursday 12 June.
The flight was bound for London Gatwick from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport after taking off around 10am local time this morning.
However, it didn't complete its full ascent, losing signal at an altitude of 625 feet before plummeting back to Earth and colliding with a hostel that was being used as accommodation for doctors.

242 people were on board at the time of the crash, with 169 being Indian nationals, 53 passengers being British, seven being Portuguese, and one being Canadian.
Police have tragically said there appear to be 'no survivors' from the flight.
Now, the US leader has spoken out about the aviation tragedy for the first time.

Speaking at the White House today, Trump has said that he has offered 'anything we can do' for Indian authorities after the 'horrific crash'.

"Nobody had any idea what happened," the 78-year-old Republican said.
"It looks like it was flying just fine."
He also said he believed it was 'one of the most worst crashes in aviation history'.
He also explained: “The plane crash was terrible. I’ve already told them, anything we can do — it’s a big country, a strong country, they’ll handle it — I’m sure.
“But I let them know that anything we can do, we’ll be over there immediately. But it was a horrific crash,” he told reporters.

The 47th US President also said that he 'gave them a couple of pointers', but didn't expand beyond that.
Flight AI171's tragic crash was the world's deadliest aviation disaster in the last decade.
Despite officials reporting that all 242 passengers onboard didn't make it, it has since been reported that one British national miraculously survived the accident.

It was added by India's Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) that four to five more are currently missing, while two to three are in critical condition in HDU/ICU.
Following the crash, police have also released a list of those 'injured' on X, containing 25 names ranging in age from 18 to 52.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer also sent his thoughts out to the families of those on the doomed flight.
“The scenes emerging of a London-bound plane carrying many British nationals crashing in the Indian city of Ahmedabad are devastating,” he said.
“I am being kept updated as the situation develops, and my thoughts are with the passengers and their families at this deeply distressing time.”
