Weddings are supposed to be among the happiest days of our lives, but for one woman from Australia, it became something of a nightmare.

Everyone wants their wedding days to go perfectly, and there are always likely to be little hiccups to prevent that from happening, many of which are out of your control, especially if a guest brings their incredibly loud child to an 'adult-only' ceremony.

In circumstances where cheating has supposedly been involved, there have even been cases where some people have waited to make a speech to reveal their partner's infidelity in front of a big crowd to make it extra embarrassing.

But even in cases where marriages were perhaps always heading for disaster, most at least make it through the night without getting ready to file for divorce.

However, one woman living Down Under has revealed how her marriage seemingly lasted just three hours after her husband disappeared for a shocking reason during the celebrations.

Calling into Nova's Late Drive with Ben, Liam & Belle, Kylie from Melbourne, Australia, recounted the surreal moment the man she'd expected to spend the rest of her life with decided that he'd made a mistake.

She said: "I had a really short marriage. It wasn't even 24 hours. We got married and had a beautiful wedding. And he was gone for the reception.

"We had the ceremony, did the photos - he was beautiful during the photoshoot, he was the love of my life. And then he just disappeared. I didn't hear from him for months."

Despite Kylie's concerns, the wedding celebrations didn't stop, with some family members even checking in on her to see how the honeymoon was going.

"It was really hard, especially talking to family members [who called to ask about the new husband the next day],' she said. "But we laugh about it now."

According to Kylie, her ex eventually contacted her to tell her that he 'didn't want to be with her' and had been 'seeing someone else' the entire time, with the twist being that the woman he had been seeing was, in fact, her cousin.

She added that she doesn't see her ex-husband or cousin anymore, as it 'would be really awkward'.

However, she's been able to see the funny side of the whole situation, adding that it's 'brought up all time' and that her kids 'think it's hilarious'.

The hosts then asked her if she had since remarried, to which she quickly responded with 'no'.
