Expert reveals three signs global war has 'already started'

The US and Israel's actions against Iran have sparked concerns about a third world war

A British historian has outlined three clues which he believes show that a global war has 'already begun'.

After Donald Trump's decision to join forces with Israel and start a war with Iran last week (28 February) there has been growing concerns about the conflict spilling over in a wider war.

Iran has already launched military strikes against its neighbours in the Gulf states, Azerbaijan and Cyprus in response while Sir Richard Knighton, UK Chief of the Defence Staff, recently suggested we were living in 'the most dangerous time of the last 30 years' while speaking to the BBC.

Now historian Professor Anthony Glees has outlined three clues which he believes are signs which suggest a third global conflict is already here.

Speaking in a new interview with The Mirror, Professor Glees pointed to three signs - a war of choice, the mindset of leaders of involved nations and Trump's commitment to continuing the conflict - are all signs which he believes confirm that a third global war is already here.

A war of choice

Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in attacking Iran has been labelled as a war of choice.

"Both world wars were wars of choice. So was the attack on Iran last Saturday," Glees said.

A war of choice is defined as a conflict which is started by a country which has not been attacked or at imminent threat from another nation but instead taking preventative measures.

"There's no evidence at all that Iran was planning to attack the USA - it cannot reach the US homeland although US bases were well within the range of its missiles as we are seeing right now - no evidence it was planning to attack Israel, a nuclear power only too happy to fight back tooth and nail."

He went on to add that wars of choice have often spilled over into global conflicts.

The mindset of leaders

Glees' next piece of evidence involved the mindset of leaders such as Trump and Netanyahu.

Claiming the attack on Iran proves the two leaders 'do not give a damn for international law', Glees said: "Might is right, not law, and they exercise the might.

"The mind that unleashes a war of choice against one enemy can unleash a war of choice against any enemy," he added.

Trump's commitment to continuing the war

President Trump's decisions on how long he wanted to continue the war for is also crucial to our risks of a third world war, according to Glees.

"In short, if Trump comes to his senses, he will quickly announce that he's had a victory and stop the fighting. He does have this power," he said.

"But it is far more likely he's been ensnared by Netanyahu who has long believed in forever wars and the fighting will go on."
