On 3 July, Paige Bell was found partially undressed in the engine room of a luxury boat docked off Harbour Island, Bahamas.

The 20-year-old South African was working as a crew member on the Far From It ship. The island is also known as the 'Billionaire's Backyard' due to the ultra-rich who have homes there.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force said in a statement on 9 July that a 39-year-old man from Mexico has now been charged with murder.

According to the Daily Mail, a man named Brigido Munoz appeared before magistrates in Nassau and an official hearing is set to take place on 20 November.

Paige's body was reportedly found near Munoz, who police said had severe injuries to his arm in what could have been a suspected suicide attempt.

Slash wounds were found on Paige Bell's neck and arms

Paige was found on the 43-metre yacht with slash wounds on her neck and arms, the court heard.

Wounds on her arms suggest she may have tried to fend off the attacker.

Police said the circumstances surrounding her death on the £100,000 per week yacht are still under investigation.

Paige's older sister Chelsey Jacobs said the family is 'seeking justice for the monster that took her life'.

"Our family is facing an unimaginable journey," she added, as the family urged people to 'please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we fight for Paigey'.

Paige's captain issues emotional tribute

Captain Frank Prest has set up a GoFundMe for Paige who was just days away from turning 21.

"Myself, Captain Frank Prest, Captain Stephan Coetzer, previous Captain Arnold Heins, Owner’s Rep Andrew Dyet, Bruce, Kathy, and all previous and current crew members on board Motor Yacht Sweet Emocean are heartbroken to share the news of the passing of our dear friend and former crew member, Paige Bell," it read.

"Paige worked on Motor Yacht Sweet Emocean until December of 2024 but will always be a part of the Family.

"She would have celebrated her 21st birthday on July 14th. In honour of Paige, her mother has asked that we all eat red velvet cake (her favourite) on that day and share a photo in remembrance of the beautiful soul she was."

Captain Prest said 'Paige was more than a teammate' and that her 'radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless compassion made an unforgettable impact on everyone lucky enough to know her'.
