Russian officials have issued another threat after their recent warning that the US taking over Greenland could kick off the 'end of the world'.
Donald Trump wants to acquire the world's largest island and doesn't seem to care very much what the people living there think of that idea as he's said he's going to do something 'whether they like it or not'.
Greenlanders have made it very clear they would not like it but Trump does not appear interested in securing their consent, with Greenland's prime minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen making it clear his country was 'not for sale, and we do not want to be a part of the US'.
European nations have sent troops to Greenland, just a handful of them for a training operation, while the word from their leaders is that Greenland's wishes must be respected and the US shouldn't try and take over the place.

If they did it'd pretty much kill the NATO alliance as Greenland is currently a self-governing territory under Denmark, which is a member of NATO and an alliance can't really survive if members start invading each other.

Russia previously warned that if the US takes over Greenland it could result in America getting 'nuclear superiority over Russia and China' which could spell 'the beginning of the end of the world'.
Now a new warning has come from nationalist politician Aleksey Zhuravlev, who said people like Donald Trump have 'more often than not led the planet to disaster' and that should the US act on Trump's threats then 'Europe would come running to us, bowing at our feet, begging for protection'.
Quite what protection Russia could offer the rest of Europe is unclear considering they've spent the past few years failing to take Ukraine, so whatever they're packing in the military protection department won't be enough and their help would not be particularly welcome.

Still, demonstrating that even a broken clock is right twice a day, the Russian politician said: "Trump is absolutely certain that he's the king of the universe, and that anything goes.
"This is the main problem facing all of humanity right now; leaders with such egos and exorbitant ambitions have more often than not led the planet to disaster."

He might want to consider applying that statement to his boss Vladimir Putin as well, though it could end up with him having a tragic accident involving falling out of a window.
This is also the same guy who warned of other people that might cause a planetary disaster while also suggesting that Russia ought to 'attack with torpedoes and sink a couple of American Coast Guard boats' in retaliation for an oil tanker being seized while sailing under a Russian flag.

Such a course of action would be likely to cause a disaster and it would be entirely preferable for the planet if such an outcome could be avoided.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are stuck waiting for the next stupid thing somebody does to see how that'll screw things up even worse than before.
