A little girl has become a viral hit after quickly shutting down a cashier who questioned her about why she wanted a doll with a different skin tone.

Sophia Benner was in a toy shop with her mum and dad, Brandi and Nick, choosing a toy as reward for completing her potty training (well done on that, too, by the way, Sophia).

She decided on a doll and picked out the one she wanted and the family headed to pay. According to a post on mum Brandi's Instagram, the cashier asked little Sophia if she was going to a party, before asking if the doll was for a friend.

Brandi told the cashier 'no' and that it was reward for being a fully-fledged potty user. It was at this point the cashier asked: "Are you sure this is the doll you want, honey?" Little Sophia responded, 'yes, please!'. The cashier then said: "But she doesn't look like you. We have lots of other dolls that look more like you."

By then Brandi was getting pissed off, but before she has a chance to speak up, Sophia said: "Yes, she does. She's a doctor like I'm a doctor. And I'm a pretty girl and she's a pretty girl. See her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?"

The woman (finally) dropped the matter and the little girl was able to leave with her doll.

So, what we have here is a two-year-old teaching a fully-grown adult that skin colour doesn't matter - whether that's in doll form or not. 2017 is a weird time to be alive, isn't it?

In her post, Brandi continued: "This experience just confirmed my belief that we aren't born with the idea that colour matters. Skin comes in different colours just like hair and eyes and every shade is beautiful."

I like this little girl. She reminds me of the two adorable little LADs from a while back who, despite being different races, thought they could trick their teacher into not being able to tell them apart after getting the same haircut. Is someone chopping onions?

Sophia's kick-ass response is now enjoying some viral fame, being shared thousands of times on social media, as well as attracting a lot of comments from people rushing to call her 'amazing'. People also heaped praise on Brandi and Nick for raising such a cool kid.

I hate to sound optimistic, but stuff like this does give me hope for the future.
