Last night at UFC 196 Conor McGregor was very humble in defeat after Nate Diaz got him to tap out. He didn't try and make any excuses or beat around the bush - he simply admitted he was insufficient with his energy and a little naive, and that's why he lost.
Very little time had passed since the defeat before he was revealing his plans going forward.

After he'd been cleaned up and had thrown on a suit, he turned up to the post-fight press conference seeming quite lethargic. He explained that dropping back down to defend his featherweight crown is the best move for him to make.
After he left he was interviewed by Fox and spoke of how he'll be aware fighters in the featherweight division will be happy with his loss, so he'll have to drop back down to that division to remind them what he's about.
Conor McGregor on his loss to Nate Diaz: "I've been on the end of many defeats in my life and I've rose back. I will not shy away from it. I will not make excuses."

On his way out of the building BT Sport caught up with him to ask him similar questions, but his answers remained the same - he was a little out of his depth with a bigger man who can make many more hits than those in the lower weight divisions.
He had cheered up a bit and even managed to break a smile saying "this is the fight business, these things happen". He then seemed more relaxed as he told BT he was on his way to have a drink and to celebrate the event, despite the disappointing outcome.
