Cristiano Ronaldo has sparked controversy after captioning a photo of himself and friend Jose Semedo 'black and white chocolate'.

The Real Madrid footballer posted an image of the pair posing topless in a pool to his Instagram on Monday night.

Despite attracting over three million likes so far, a number of users have accused the Portuguese star of racism.

Alongside the photo, Ronaldo wrote: "Perfect Mtach Black And White chocolate. (sic)"

User ramostheme commented 'Thats (sic) a little racist', while rafael22alam wrote 'You're racist' in response to the post.

Other users pointed out that even if the caption was racist, it was a bit shit. "Isn't it supposed to be dark chocolate, not black?" one fan pointed out.

Another user wrote: "Cristiano you might get some hate for this caption for some reason, people are sensitive. So just be aware."

The image was posted two days after the father-of-three uploaded a picture of his newborn twins - rumoured to have been named Eva and Mateo - on Instagram, with the caption: "So happy to be able to hold the two new loves of my life".

Cristiano Ronaldo's son, Cristiano Jr, also looks like he's something special, going by footage recorded by his dad.

In the video, posted to Instagram by the forward, his son scored a spectacular goal after being fouled and awarded a free-kick.
