Jeremy Clarkson has officially challenged Wrexham owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, following the football team's success in the National League.

Wrexham became the talk of the town when they successfully won the National League title last month, earning the team a promotion back to the English Football League for the first time in 15 years.

The success came under the watchful eyes of Reynolds and McElhenney, who bought the team in 2021, and they later made sure the players got the celebrations they deserved with a trip to Las Vegas.

Wrexham is now facing the Football League, but Clarkson has another challenge in mind involving his local team, Chadlington FC.

Clarkson started sponsoring the team, which plays in the Witney and District League, in November 2021, a few months after Reynolds and McElhenney became Wrexham's new owners.

His sponsorship came to light as the club revealed its new first team kit would feature the logo for Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm.

The farm later teased the two American football owners by posting an image of the team on Instagram with the caption: "Eat your heart out Ryan Reynolds."

In a statement, Chadlington Football Club said: "Following meetings over the summer with both Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan a deal has been struck that will see the Diddly Squat logo on the new First Team kit with the potential for more tie ups in the future."

Now, more than 18 months after Clarkson started sponsoring the team, the Grand Tour presenter is looking to have them face Wrexham.

Clarkson didn't tag Reynolds, McElhenney or even Wrexham AFC on Twitter, but instead went with an indirect challenge as he wrote: "OK Wrexham. @ChadlingtonFC is coming for you."

The prospect of the two teams going head-to-head has excited fans, with one writing: "The tale of the two best teams… in the world."

Another added: "I’d watch that match."

Neither of the two actors have responded to Clarkson's challenge, but the presenter might be planning to take more action behind the scenes to make the match happen.

Meanwhile, Reynolds and McElhenney have been busy focusing on a new sponsor of their own as it was announced that Betty Buzz, a drinks mixer company founded by Reynolds' wife, Blake Lively, would be showing its support for the team.

"New season and IN season. Well, this upcoming season. Proud to be the newest sponsors of @Wrexham_AFC @WrexhamAFCWomen," the company wrote on Twitter.

The question is, will Reynolds and McElhenney be able to kick back with some Betty Buzz after a match with Chadlington FC? Only time will tell.
