Mike Tyson Is Ready To Accept Fight With Jake Paul

Despite the 30-year age gap between the duo, it seems the legendary boxer is still very much up for a date in the ring

Mike Tyson has revealed he is up for fighting Jake Paul, calling out ‘Jakey’ directly by saying it would be ‘cool’ to go up against him.

Tyson has previously spoken about the idea of a fight with the YouTuber, but nothing has materialised so far.

Despite the 30-year age gap between the duo, it seems the legendary boxer is still very much up for a date in the ring – saying that Paul’s following could help their fight be a record-breaking one.

Tyson sat down with co-host Sebastian Joseph-Day and Joe Rogan for a 4/20 episode of his Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast, where the trio discussed rumoured fights.

Rogan asked how Tyson was thought to be considering a fight with Paul for a ‘giant chunk of money’, to which he responded: “Hey, Jake Paul, believe it not, is more profitable than the champs – if I fought a champ.”

Rogan said: “I’m not shocked. I mean, it’s like, who’s gonna sell the most tickets?”

Tyson continued: “Listen, this guy probably brings about 80 million people to the table."

Agreeing, Rogan said: “I mean, how many million people would buy that pay-per-view? I bet that would be a giant pay-per-view.”

When Joseph-Day asked if he’d do it, Tyson replied: “Only to break the record though. I won’t go through with it if I’m not breaking the record.”

When Rogan said he might actually break the record if he went up against Paul, saying: “Culturally, you versus Jake Paul – this young YouTuber takes on one of the greatest heavyweight champions that’s ever lived...”

Reflecting on the idea, Tyson said: “I love that. Sounds good" before adding excitedly: “Let's do it, Jakey. God, wouldn't that be cool?”

Later in the podcast episode, the former professional boxer said he worried Paul may end up in jail before they'd get to go against one another.

“I worry about him getting in trouble before the fight happened,” he said, as Rogan agreed Paul was ‘a little wild’.

Tyson continued: “I'd tell him, ‘Hey man, you're going to go for jail for real, chill out.

“[…] He’s too crazy, he would be throwing stuff at people – I mean, the bottles and stuff.”
