In late 2021, the Collingwood Football Club announced the election of the AFL club’s 14th president Jeff Browne.

Browne is the fourth president in a 12 month period.

He has taken over the role from Eddie McGuire after the former AFL president stood down over backlash following comments he made about the 'Do Better' report.

The 'Do Better' report is an independent review into systemic racism within the Collingwood Football Club.

Who is Jeff Browne?

Browne previously worked as a lawyer for the AFL for the past 22 years.

He established the competition agreements for all clubs, the racial vilification policy, the players’ collective bargaining agreements, media rights agreements and rules for the salary cap and national draft.

Browne is also a renowned businessman.

He is the Non-Executive Director and Chairman of MA Financial Group.

He is the former Chairman at carsales.com, and former Managing Director for Nine Network.

He also worked as a commercial lawyer and founded his own practice, Browne & Co Solicitors and Consultants, early in his legal career.

Key Facts

  • Age: 66
  • Date of birth: 1955
  • Nationality: Caucasian-Australian
  • Net Worth: $1.4 million (£800,000)

All numbers correct as of 1st July, 2022.

How much does Jeff Browne earn?

As Non-Executive Director and Chairman of MA Financial Group Browne earns a $224,148 (£125,900) per year, according to Wallmine.

AFL club presidents don’t receive pay despite the work being equivalent to a full-time job.

However his tenure is unlikely to last anywhere as long as McGuire's, as the Collingwood board has promised to review its constitution set to see the president serve a maximum of six years, as per the ABC.

How old is Jeff Browne?

Born in Australia in 1955, Browne is 66 years old.

Who Is Jeff Browne's wife?

Browne married wife Rhonda Wyllie in 2018. Wylie is the executive director of the Wyllie Group and renowned philanthropist.

Wylie is one of Australia’s richest people, and the Aussie power couple are some of the big names in the business world.

The pair separated in 2021 after calling their marriage 'irreconcilable'.
