Eagle-eyed Google Maps enthusiasts are convinced a secluded facility in the desert could be conducting alien research.
The mysterious facility is located in the Arizona desert and users are speculating about its purpose online.
Reddit user u/APicketFence uploaded a screenshot of the area in a subreddit called r/Google_Maps_oddities, a community of people who post weird and unusual sightings from the app.
The image shows an isolated facility with several buildings - one main building and several smaller ones - which is fenced all the way round.
"Interesting looking facility in Southeast Arizona," the screenshot was captioned.

"Let's see: in the middle of nowhere, security fence and automatic gate, lots of lights on tall poles, a long cement walkway leading to a helicopter pad, lots of structures including one large building and one building that looks like it has a giant tall cage attached on one end--it is like something out of the X Files," one user commented. "Evil lair outpost? "Alien research center?"
"Probably something more mundane, but it has enough weirdness to have fun with some wild speculation," they added.
"Looks like a CBP outpost [Customs and Border Protection]. White trucks, helipad, secure, and near the border," said another.
"This is correct. I can see at least 3 Raptors - definitely 'La 'Migra'," another user agreed.
"Please we all know what it really is. It's where Taco Bell hides its Bells," somebody else joked.
"Underground lair," guessed another user, while another suggested it was "Rocket research buildings."
"It's Arizona, so it's either aliens or some random ass warehouse that doesn't really have a purpose," said another.
"Might be an ICBM launch site," said another.
As some users have pointed out, we're sure it's got a perfectly innocent and mundane purpose, but lots of users have had fun speculating about the eerie looking facility.
