Bullied girl with autism who has IQ higher than Einstein now studying for masters degree aged 11

She hopes to one day be an astronaut for NASA

An 11-year-old who has an IQ higher than Albert Einstein is proving her bullies wrong by earning a Master's degree in engineering and hopes to one day become an astronaut.

Adhara Pérez Sánchez grew up in Tláhau, Mexico City and was sadly bullied for being autistic.

Unbelievably, Adhara completed elementary school at the age of five before graduating from both middle and high school just a year later.

Now, in pursuit on her dream to work for NASA one day, she is currently working with the Mexican Space Agency by promoting space exploration and mathematics to young girls.

At the age of just three, bright little Adhara's speech regressed and, coupled with the fact that she began to crawl very quickly and rocked herself in her high chair, led to her being diagnosed with autism.

Her genius wasn't recognised at first.

Appearing on the April cover of Marie Claire Mexico, it was revealed how she began to withdraw after she was bullied by her classmates for her developmental delay - and the teachers simply didn't care.

"The teachers were not very empathetic, they told me that I wish she would finish an assignment," her mother, Nayeli Sánchez, said in the interview.

"She began to exclude herself, she did not want to play with her classmates, she felt strange, different."

She continued: "She could be at school for a while but then she couldn't, she fell asleep, she didn't want to do things anymore.

"She was very depressed, people did not have empathy, they made fun of her."

When she noticed that Adhara knew the periodic table by heart and could do algebra, she assumed she was just bored and enrolled her in therapy to help with her depression.

The therapist recognised the spark of genius instantly and advised the Center for Attention to Talent (CEDAT), a school for gifted children.

Adhara has an impressive IQ of 160.

After an initial test it was confirmed that her IQ was a whopping 160 - to put that into context, that's higher than both Albert Einstein and her muse, Stephen Hawking.

With a bachelor's degree in systems engineering from CNCI University already in the bag, Marie Claire Mexico reports that the pre-teen is now studying a Master's program in mathematics at the Technological University of Mexico.

She spoke to Goalast and said of her interest in space travel after being named after a star in the Canis Major constellation: "I want to go to space and colonize Mars.

"If you don’t like where you are, imagine where you want to be. I see myself at NASA, so it’s worth a try."

Adhara hopes to study astrophysics at the University of Arizona where she was previously offered her a scholarship, which was deferred due to issues with her visa.

She told Marie Claire Mexico that she hopes to finish her G-tests at age 17 that will allow her to man flights through an agency that supports young scientists and be the first autistic person to fly.
