A woman has redefined working with your hands as she claims to make up to £2,000 a day as a professional hand model for big-name brands.

35-year-old Avisha Tewani claims she has the 'world's most beautiful hands' and she's got the bank statements to back it up as she's made some serious money off them.

She got her start in the hand model industry after helping a family member on a shoot for wedding and engagement rings, and 'within the first week or two' she was being approached for more jobs.

Grasping the opportunity, she's since worked with the likes of Starbucks, Coca Cola, Absolut Vodka and Kylie Cosmetics, and she's had to change her lifestyle in order to preserve her hands for work.

That means Avisha can't cycle around any more in order to avoid accidents and has to wear gloves when doing the dishes to avoid messing up her manicure, while she's also had to give up boxing.

Given that one part of her body is bringing home the bacon, the New York City woman has also started modelling her legs, feet, ears and neck.

She explained that her family told her that her 'long fingers and long nails' could make her a big figure in the hand model industry and suggested she reach out to an agent.

Since she got signed on with an agent in August 2020, things 'snowballed' for Avisha, and she said she discovered the work can be 'challenging' despite people assuming her work is just 'holding things' while somebody takes photos.

She explained that shoots can take up to 12 hours involving as many as 35 people, and could be 'really tough'.

"The client doesn't know exactly what they're looking for either," Avisha said.

“They are relying on you to show your creativity and make the product look appealing, show the branding and make sure your hand looks nice.

“To give an example, sometimes a brand may only have one or two samples of product open like a lipstick, you have to twist it, try it on, do something with it. But there’s only two samples so you have to make sure you get it right."

Depending on her client, a job might pay a few hundred to a couple of thousand quid, and she might also get a usage fee for bigger adverts.

One of her favourite jobs was a Valentine's Day gig she did for Chanel where she had to hold a dove.

She said: "Being a middle skin tone person right now is a very good thing for the industry.

"A lot of things are changing and a lot of clients looking for the ambiguous look or the middle skin tone.

"I’m getting more work which I’m very grateful for."

You've got to hand it to her.
