Kim Kardashian has hit back at social media users who slammed her holiday photos which showed her riding an elephant in Bali.
On Instagram and Twitter, she captioned the images 'Missing Bali and the amazing elephant sanctuary', but people took issue with the fact that the elephants were being ridden, with one shown with a rope around its neck.

Most genuine elephant sanctuaries don't condone riding of elephants, having rescued them from places that have abused them to allow people to ride on them, or from other places such as the circus.
However, on Kim's photos, she can be seen posing with an elephant, while in another, one is wearing a saddle and has a man sitting on its neck.
People took to Twitter to share their views, with many advising Kim on where she can visit a real sanctuary.
One person was left 'fuming' with the images.
Kim I love you, but please research some of the issues with these so called sanctuaries! So many people innocently visit these places without knowing how the animals atlre treated! Elephant Nature Park in Chang Mai is a well known ethical sanctuary

Another user on Instagram commented: "Is that a chair on the elephant?! If so, that's not a sanctuary. Now that you're studying law it would be great if you educated yourself on the animal cruelty that goes on in those places. The pain and abuse that those animals go through since babies. In a real sanctuary, you're not allowed to ride the elephants."
When she originally posted the images last year, Downton Abbey's Peter Egan commented, saying she showed 'ignorance and lack of care'. Kim defended the images, saying she did her research before going.
We visited an elephant sanctuary that has rescued these elephants from Sumatra where they would have otherwise gone extinct. It is an organization that is working to save these beautiful animals. We did full research before going.
