Most blokes can't stand Christmas shopping and don't know where to start - so the women in their life often drop not so subtle hints about what they want to ensure they aren't disappointed on the Big Day.

But this fella's fiancée would be best off just buying her own gift next year as he ended up getting it drastically wrong.

Angus Duncan shared a disheartened post on X (formerly known as Twitter), explaining that despite his best efforts, his other half wasn't happy with what was waiting under their tree.

Alongside a snap of the botched present and a screenshot of a text message showing her reaction, he wrote: "Apparently I got my fiancée the wrong Dyson Air-thingy?"

Most of us are aware that the Dyson Airwrap is a hot commodity which featured on a lot of people's Christmas lists, as the hair styling tool can give you the salon-look from the comfort of your own home.

But Angus clearly wasn't privy to this information, as he ended up getting something completely different.

To be fair to him, it was still a Dyson product - but his fiancée can't give herself a curly blow with it.

Angus managed to royally muck up his fiancée's Christmas gift.

The Scotland-based photographer claimed that he'd gotten the Dyson Airwrap mixed up with the Dyson Airblade - so you can imagine the disappointment on his wife-to-be's face on Christmas morning.

He shared a screenshot of an angry text she sent him on December 25, written in capital letters to emphasise her astonishment, saying: "WHY DID YOU GET ME A HAND DRYER????????"

Social media users obviously ate it up and thought it was absolutely hilarious.

One wrote: "Hoping your fiancée can see the humour in the accidental upgrade."

Another said: "Husband of the year award."

A third added: "How fast did it dry her hair if she put her head in it? Always wanted to try ngl."

He claimed he got the Dyson Airwrap mixed up with the Dyson Airblade.

While a fourth commented: "I've been laughing at this for so long."

And a fifth chimed in: "Oh God!!! I would be very unimpressed."

But before you start imagining the huge barney they must have had over the hand dryer while cooking their Christmas dinner, don't feel too sorry for Angus' fiancée - as the whole thing was a hoax.

After his hilarious post went viral, he confessed that the Dyson debacle was actually just a 'stupid joke' which he pulls every year - probably to remind the male population to triple check what their other half asked for.

He wrote: "This is a stupid joke that I’ve posted every year and it is just as surprising that this has gone viral as it is that I actually have a fiancée."

And people dubbed him a 'legend' for his online prank, which managed to fool quite a few people.

And hey, those Dyson Airblade's don't come cheap - so I bet his fiancée is pretty gutted she didn't get one after all.
