Mother's Day has crept up on us, just like last year and every year before, so you're running out of time to figure out how you're going to show your continued appreciation for being made.
Fortunately, discount supermarkets - much like petrol stations - will always be there to sell us suitable gifts at a convenient hour and price.
However, if you fancy going one better than just dumping a box of chocolates on the table/through the letterbox, Aldi may just have the answer.

The German supermarket is dropping the 'Mother of all Steaks' in stores across the country tomorrow (Thursday). Weighing in at a whopping 16oz (454g), the 21-day matured rump steak 'made with the finest cuts of 100 per cent British Farm Assured Beef' will be on sale for only £4.99 - so it's a deliciously affordable way of saying cheers mum.
Plus, if you're honest, she probably has enough bath bombs and candles to last a century at this stage, so why not offer to go around/come down from the attic room you live in and rustle up the meaty meal for her? After all, quality time should mean marginally more to her than bubbles and nice smells.
If you're going to do this, though, you don't wanna fuck it up, so here's how to get the best results:

SHALLOW FRY: Add to a well-oiled pan and heat to a high setting. Lightly season the steak with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, add steak to the pan and sear on both sides for 1 minute. Lower heat to medium-high and continue to cook for the below times, turning occasionally during cooking:
Rare: Six to eight minutes
Medium: Nine to 10 minutes
Well done (if your mum has no taste): 10 to 13 minutes
GRILL: Preheat grill to a medium-high heat. Lightly season the steak with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper and place under the grill for the below times, turning occasionally during cooking:
Rare: Eight to 10 minutes
Medium: 12 to 14 minutes
Well done (if your mum has no taste): 14 to 16 minutes
Make sure you get some potatoes/tomatoes/greens/mushrooms or whatever to go on the side, and maybe a bottle of red - and voila! Mother's Day sorted.

However, if you can't bear spending time around your mum, this plan might not work - posting meat isn't cool.
Happy meaty Mother's Day, everyone.
