Greggs seriously divides customers with latest menu shake up

Greggs seriously divides customers with latest menu shake up

Greggs divide customer opinion after introducing two new products, but not everyone is happy to have a vegan bake on the menu.

The nation’s favourite bakery Greggs has switched up its menu again, but customers aren’t sure how to feel.

From cheese pasties to the ever-loved sausage roll, this high street giant has got fans of the brand unsure of how to feel.

What is this new item, you may ask?

A new vegan bake.

This new vegan Mexican chicken free-bake is made with vegan chicken-free pieces, vegetables, and a yummy Mexican-style tomato sauce.

Not only has a new meat-free product come out, but also something for those with a sweet tooth.

The raspberry muffin launched features raspberry pieces and a delicious fruity middle.

With so much range in their options offered to customers with different diets and wants, some just don’t think it’s enough.

Twitter saw the backlash the hardest, with one user tweeting: “Nobody asked for this. Ever.”

Ouch, that’s harsh for a vegan bake.

Another person queried the need for this new product and said: “Vegan chicken free. I mean what's the point?”

Even some vegetarians weren’t impressed, and a third user chimed in: “Why not just vegetable? I'm a vegetarian and don't like fake chicken?”

There were even calls for the fairness of who gets catered to at Greggs.

Someone wrote: “Actually disappointed to see yet another vegan option - which is great for vegans who chose that lifestyle - but still nothing of note for gluten free options - which is almost always a dietary requirement by necessity rather than choice.”

Although there were many complaints about these two new menu items, there were also those who stood up in support of the baked goods brand.

One commented: “Are they everywhere yet or just in selected ones? Cannot wait to get one.”

Fear not, they will be available across all UK stores soon with fantastic prices and reasonable calorie counts (if you care about calories when going to Greggs).

The raspberry muffin will be a banging £1.25 and 320 calories, while the vegan bake includes 426 calories and costs as little as £1.90.

Not only is Greggs adding to the list of amazing products, but they are also expanding the platforms where their food is available to order with new bundles on the delivery app Just Eat.

This fan division comes soon after it was reported that a woman snapped up a Greggs vegan sausage roll just hours after giving birth.

Lottie Adele, 36, delivered her baby Meadow via C-section on Tuesday and craved the flaky pastry from a Greggs roll.

Demanding that her partner go and grab her one, she soon snacked on a well deserved treat.

Lottie then posted a picture that her partner snapped of her with a hilarious caption: “When the hospital food just doesn't cut it ... @GreggsOfficial (4 hours after giving birth) will do the trick.”

We think Lottie deserves some Greggs sponsorships for this comedic moment!
