A woman says she's introduced a 'two hour' rule for her potential dates after getting tired of being ghosted or cancelled on at the last minute. You can see her explain the system here:

Kristen Beatty, or @kristenbeatty24, took to TikTok to share her new rule, which appeared to pay off the first time she used it.

In the video she explains: "This is new for me, it's about 7.00pm and I have a date at 9.00pm - clearly, I am not in date form, no hair, makeup, I'm in my pajamas.

"Usually, I would start getting ready or at least thinking about getting ready, but one too many times, I've either been ghosted or canceled on at the very last minute after getting ready and it's the most annoying thing.

"So I'm trying this thing where I do not get ready until I hear from him, because I feel like I should be hearing from a guy that I'm supposed to be seeing within the two hours that I'm supposed to see him.

"So, this is what I'll be looking like while we wait."

The clip then cuts to Kristen cooking in her PJs while dancing around her kitchen.

She then shares a shot of her meal at 7.30pm, adding that 'carbs never cancel'.

At 8pm, Kristen reveals her date did indeed cancel and she can be seen tucking into some Ben and Jerry's ice cream straight out of the tub.

So it seems as though she saved herself the bother of getting all dressed only to be let down an hour before she was due to meet for the date.

Since sharing her clip, Kristen's rule has been praised by fellow TikTok users who say they'll be giving it a try themselves.

Responding to the clip one woman wrote: "Girl, this is my new rule! Thank you!

"I owe you a bottle of wine."

Another said: "I started doing the same thing for the same reason. I've saved myself time and effort several times.

A third wrote: "If they wait to confirm, they can wait and see if I choose to show up."

A fourth person commented: "I think that's smart you wait to get ready.

"If they aren't going to prioritise you, why should you prioritise them?"
