Bodybuilder now scared to lift weights after suffering horror heart attack in near-death experience

Bodybuilder now scared to lift weights after suffering horror heart attack in near-death experience

A bodybuilder who almost died from a heart attack wishes he could go back and give his former self some advice

A bodybuilder has opened up about the advice he wished he could give his younger self after suffering from a horrific heart attack.

In 2021 millionaire bodybuilder Kali Muscle was hospitalised with a heart attack that had been brought on by using steroids.

He said he believed he had ignored a lot of warnings in the build up to his heart attack and has since been advising others not to do what he did and fail to pay attention to the signs.

Kali had to undergo life-saving surgery and since then he's been promoting a healthier lifestyle which is further removed from the pressures some bodybuilders face to bulk up as much as possible.

In particular he's warned people to stay well away from steroids and said he wished he could give his younger self that same advice.

The bodybuilder still works out but has said he wishes he could tell his younger self to avoid using steroids.

In a recent video Kali said he was 'scared of weights now' and could remember a time when he was lifting significantly heavier amounts.

He said: "I look back like: 'Why?' Somebody asked me what would I tell my 30 years self?

"I didn't know what bodybuilding was until I was 34, so 34 I would tell myself don't do bodybuilding shows and don't take all that synthetic made in the lab.

"That's what I would tell myself. I would say 'stay lean, fit, you don't have to be looking like an oversize gorilla'. Stay getting your money like you're doing because I've always been a hustler."

Kali went on to say that 'overall competing in bodybuilding is a 'regret' though he admitted he'd learned a lot from it, and thought he might encourage his younger self to pursue 'natural bodybuilding'.

Ultimately he'd tell himself and other bodybuilders to 'stay anti-roids'.

Kali is not the only bodybuilder who has fired off warnings about the dangers of taking too many steroids in pursuit of getting stronger.

Irish bodybuilder Dave Hartrey showed that his back had become covered with scars from painful boils due to taking steroids.

Phil Heath, an American bodybuilder, said that other parts of your body could be impacted, noting that 'things do happen' to your nether regions because 'you're so damn dehydrated', though said the impact wasn't permanent as 'you're back right' a couple of nights later.

There's really nothing wrong with getting in shape as a healthy exercise regime can boost your wellbeing in all sorts of different ways but there can be downsides in the pursuit of 'fitness' over fitness.
