Us Brits know all too well that when our favourite team wins a game or a tournament, the celebrations often go off.
And in this case, it quite literally went off, as a baseball fan used fireworks.

However, things went horrifically wrong as the man blasted off his hand when celebrating the LA Dodgers’ victory.
With the US baseball team becoming the 2024 World Series champions after beating the NY Yankees on Thursday night (31 October), fans took to the streets to celebrate.
Setting off fireworks, the shocking moment was caught on camera and went viral on social media as the celebration backfired.
The fan, who has since been identified as a 25-year-old man, could be seen carrying a lit firework on a Los Angeles downtown crosswalk. However, the sparks quickly turned into a bright orange blaze before he could safely place it on the ground and move away from it.

Thick plumes of smoke started to billow as the firework exploded in his hand with blood visible.
Pretty understandably, he winced in agony as it became clear his left hand had partially been blasted off as his white baseball jersey was stained with blood. Chunks of flesh and even his fingers seem to be misplaced.
There was certainly a sense of shock from both the fan and passersby, as many headed over to check on him.
Bystanders screamed in response as one could be heard shouting: “His hand blew off, oh my goodness.”

They then called the emergency services, as it became very clear just how badly things had gone.
While carnage ensued around him, the Dodgers fan looked at his damaged hand in total shock as the extent of what had happened became clear.
In a statement provided to TMZ, The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed the man was conscious and alert but had suffered significant hand injuries that were described as 'debilitating'.

According to reports, tourniquets were placed on both of his arms as he was taken to a nearby hospital.
The County of Los Angeles Fire Code says it's illegal to store, manufacture, sell, use, or handle any form of firework without a valid permit in 'unincorporated areas' across Los Angeles.
