Liverpool Fans Use Speedboat To Cross Channel For Champions League Final

A group of Liverpool supporters have used a speed boat to get across the channel ahead of their team’s match in the Champions League Final in Paris. Here they are making their way across:

Paddy O’Toole and 12 other fans made their way to Saint Malo on Friday (27 May) after discovering that one of their mate’s flights to Paris was cancelled.

In a video uploaded to social media, the men can be seen skipping across the water - fairly exposed to the elements - while music plays in the background.

In a second clip one of the men can be seen holding up a Liverpool FC flag that is blowing wildly in the wind.

Paddy, who is from Liverpool but now lives in Jersey, told the Liverpool Echo: "My lad Patrick’s mates Adam and Tom Dring who are from Huyton, had their EasyJet flight cancelled, so their Dad rushed them down to Heathrow to try a get a flight but there was nothing. They got a flight to Jersey last minute and they met up with us and asked could we get them to France.

"We felt sorry for the young lads so we had to do something."

Once in Jersey the blokes met up with Paddy who set about finding a way to get across the English Channel in time for kick.

Paddy was able to enlist the help of a pal who runs an expert swimming tuition company that has a fleet of motor vessels.

Paddy was able to get his hands on a 12-person Redbay Stormforce 950 and the group set straight off for Saint Malo in France.

As the group got set to arrive at Saint Malo they blasted We Didn’t Start the Fire by Billy Joel.

However, despite going above and beyond to get to the French capital, it seems as though the fellas will have to make do with watching it in a pub as they don’t actually have any tickets to the final.

Paddy added: "We saw a few dolphins on the way and got the train to Rennes and then to Paris.

“A few more of our mates from Liverpool who live in Jersey heard we were going and joined on. We haven't got a ticket between us."

Thousands of red have descended on Paris ahead of Liverpool’s game against Real Madrid later today - however few have gone to the lengths Paddy and his pals did.
