Man Marrying Daughter's Ex-Boyfriend Says He's Buying Unborn Son £3.7 Million Yacht

A dad-of-six has plans to spend as much as £3.7 million on a yacht for his new son who is set to arrive in August 2022.

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow will welcome his child with his fiancé, Scott Hutchinson, who also happens to be the ex-boyfriend of Barrie's 21-year-old daughter, Saffron.

Barrie shares Saffron with his former partner, Tony, who joined Barrie and Scott in providing sperm for the new baby. Barrie and Tony made history in 1999 when they became the first same-sex couple to be listed as 'parent one' and 'parent two' on the birth certificate of their twins, instead of 'mother' and 'father'.

Having already welcomed a baby named Valentina together in 2020, Barrie and Scott have chosen not to find out whose DNA ended up fertilising the latest egg, and instead will put both of their names on the birth certificate for their son, who they plan to name River Drewitt-Barlow.

Barrie and Tony, who have a combined wealth of £40 million, continue to share their wealth and treat their children despite having split up.

Speaking to Fabulous about his plans for his unborn child, Barrie said the parents have 'not stopped buying things' for the baby.

“He will be just as spoiled as all the rest of our children for sure. We have bought all the latest designer clothes for him and the latest nursery furniture," he continued.

Barrie admitted he and Scott have changed their plans for their son's name 'about five times' so far, but the current choice of River has inspired the idea of one purchase in particular.

"If we do stick with it I have the perfect gift in mind. We are looking at yachts right now in Miami and I was thinking I might buy the new one for River, and call it after him. Our favourite is around £3.7million."

The spoils apparently won't stop with the yacht, as Barrie said the family also plan to 'make a few investments' in their son's name.

"It's only fair, we bought his big sister Saffron a £500k Faberge ring as a baby and for Valentina's first birthday we forked out £600k for a flat in Manchester," he explained.

The shopping bug has apparently been passed down from Barrie to his older children, who he claims are 'worse than [him]' for spending money on Valentina and now the new baby.

He said: “Saffron spent over £20k last month on baby clothes and Aspen spent £10k on gifts for him too.”

Barrie and Scott currently still live with Tony in a £6 million, 10-bedroom mansion in Florida, where Tony and his new partner Brent live in a separate wing. Their arrangements are set to change when the new baby arrives, though, when the couple will move into a new £6 million mansion in Essex.
